aboutme

I am a local community member that has grown up in the South East Queensland and I would like to be able in turn, use the skills I have gained to be helpful.

I began my journey of discovery and questioning at the age of 18 where I went to art school and completed three years of intense creativity. I enjoyed all creative areas of drawing, painting, and ceramics and majored in sculpture. I exhibited, studied in Italy and tutored at various campuses but life took me on a different turn I embraced Islam at age 23. A few years later married had children, lived in Dubai returned to Australia and completed a Bachelor in adult Education. I volunteered in many not- for- profit organizations working using both my educational and creative skills.

Finally in 2015 I commenced a Masters at QUT in counselling and graduated at the end of 2017 with distinctions for my final year thesis and publication of my very first article:

Armstrong, A.M. & Munro, L.E (2018).”Insider/Outsider: A Muslim Woman’s Adventure practicing ‘alongside’ narrative therapy”. Journal: Australian and New Zealand Journal of Family Therapy.
